While working in the Information Technology industry, Rick developed a new passion: hiking to the
top of an 8,842 foot granite rock. This rock, Half Dome, is the signature landmark of Yosemite
National Park. It is one of the most recognized mountains on earth. The hike is a grueling 16-mile
round trip with a vertical ascent of almost one mile from the valley floor. The hike requires stamina,
training and determination, yet he has completed the hike an amazing 35 times. He literally wrote
the book on hiking it. One Best Hike; Yosemite's Half Dome has sold over 10,000 copies and is
the bible for this extremely strenuous hike.
